Database Engine Preferences

HSTracker runs on top of the FileMaker database engine. You can set the preferences that relate to the core database by selecting Preferences… from the HSTracker menu (FileMaker menu in multi-user version). Normally you can leave these at the default settings, but if you use many images, you could increase the memory cache size to 16 or 32MB. Most of the other options are not applicable to HSTracker.

HSTracker Preferences

To change HSTracker specific preferences select HSTracker Preferences… from the HSTracker menu.

  • Here you can edit the custom fields labels that appear in the hardware and software windows.
  • If you have Growl installed you can enable Growl alerts.
  • If you have Apple Remote Desktop, you may prefer to enable the Always use ARD option. With this enabled, all screen sharing functions in HSTracker use ARD instead of VNC or Screen Sharing app.
  • Enable automatic software update checks to check for updates at startup and every 24 hours.
